Web 2.0 - From Read to Read Write

We are experiencing a shift from a World Wide Web that is “read only” to a Web that is “Read Write.” Instead of static content we are now able to interact, edit and remix content. The web is now participatory, everyone can play. The old 1.0 way of creating and publishing web content was more for geeks. Now, within minutes you can set up a blog and post your ideas on the world stage. Quentin D’Souza calls this a " transformation from geek to sleek" http://www.TeachingHacks.com

In EDT 500 we will be using this wiki site to share some of our new found Web 2.0 knowledge.

Take a look at some Web 2.0 companies listed in the go2web2.0 directory. Choose a Web 2.0 company/service, then answer the following questions on your individual wiki page:

1. What is it?
2. How to use it?
3. Why use it? (educational justification)
4. How are educators are using it? (provide links to examples)

We will then be able to read and comment on each others work. This should be an interesting, collaborative project that will introduce us to at least 20 Web 2.0 services that have educational value.
